Family Literacy of Racine Programs

Objectives:
  • Children birth to 6 demonstrate proper development and school readiness skills
  • Children K-9th grade have age/grade appropriate skills and at least "30 assets"
  • Adults demonstrate improved literacy, life, and job skills
  • Families have the economic, educational, and emotional strengths to raise healthy, literate and successful
       children.

Objectives are accomplished through integrated, comprehensive services for low income/low literacy families.  No
program fees are charged.

Referral Process:

Three requirements for enrollment:
1) at least one adult and one child are able
to attend together
2) adult is in need of literacy services
 
3) family below 185% of poverty guidelines
(qualifies for free/reduced school lunch)

Families can be referred by anyone and many
families are referred by present or past students.
Anyone working with low income/low literacy
individuals is encouraged to use the simple
referral form.   If not all information is available, name and phone number will suffice.  Referral form may be:
