Family Literacy of Racine
(262)-898-3968
Summer Camp 2011 ran for 5 weeks, from July 5 to August 4th, from 12:30-3:00 pm. Lunch was provided
through the Federal Summer Lunch Program, donated food from "Community Cares," and a some purchased
items.
Fabiola Diaz of the UW-Extension Nutrition Program provided a nutrition/healthy living class two days a week,
including a lesson and hands on
"cooking" in the kitchen.
Each week had a theme. Probably
the favorite was Water Week."
We also were visited by the Mad
Scientist and walked to the
Golden Rondelle for a show.
We are hoping to raise money for a
bigger, better camp next year.
We walked to Lake Michigan, collected
rocks, and made "water" collages.
By accident, the hottest days
of summer happened to fall
during "Water Week"
During "water" week we played "Sharks."
